Volunteer Graphic Artist
Donald (aka, “Dondee” or “Don”) is a full time Stay At Home Dad.
But likewise considers himself a full time—and lifetime—artist-designer.
He didn’t have a formal design education. (He actually was trained to become a priest, but that’s another long and winding story to be told). He considers himself always an artist and design just took off from there. He is self-taught but somehow was lucky to get some help along the way. He goes by the principle that art is in everything. And visual designs are everywhere. He loves sketching. He got into painting, working with oil, acrylic and various media. He finds himself very comfortable working with mixed media. For a significant time he trained with renowned mix media artist, Geraldine Javier at the defunct Surrounded by Water Gallery in Mandaluyong City.
He also did screenprinting once upon a time which led him to put up his own printshop called Tilad Designs in Quezon City. He created the Sorsogon-themed shirt brand called “tiladshirts”.
He also underwent training on scriptwriting and Film with Sinelab and Kuwentista Productions in Quezon City.
Right now his focus is on graphic design, particularly logos and identities. His art leans more on the modern and contemporary side. But he can do or collaborate with any discipline and genre. For the past 6 years he’s been freelancing and doing branding and identities at 48hourslogo.com where he has closely worked with different clients like www.scholasolutions.com, Skyline Schools and many more, mostly US-based start-ups.
His focus has since shifted to all things digital when it comes to visual arts. However he finds great joy doing sketches and painting with his son during their playtime.
He is also passionate about Philippine basketball and sports and leisurely runs a blog called www.labapilipinas.com.
Donald is a loving husband to his wife, Tes. His son Pax sees him as funny and believes that if ever his Tatay pursues his ridiculous plan joining the Asia’s Got Talent featuring a uniquely curated farting demonstration, he’ll automatically get three X red buzzers in no time. A new member of the family arrives by the yearend, the new kiddo on the block will be named, Lex.
The artist accepts commissioned work and can be contacted via his contact information stated above.
