Quezon City Jail Male Dorm, HLAF Jail Decongestion team work together for a door to door information drive

“In reality, jail will never change you. Only God will definitely change your life.” – HLAF Assistant Jail Decongestion Officer, Mr. Alfredo Alaras, quoted as he shared his experiences while he was in jail to the persons deprived of liberty (PDL) in lieu with the jail decongestion program last Feb, 19 at Quezon City Jail Male Dorm.

This platform was made possible by the opportunity given by the Quezon City Jail Male Dorm as HLAF’s Jail Decongestion program team-up with the BJMP Paralegal led by J/INSP John Y. Achapero to conduct a door to door campaign for the PDLs to be informed about their right to plea bargain for Section 11 of RA 9165 as well with the processing of the release papers for the elderly and sick PDLSs and minor cases.

With this, J/INSP Achapero, as the main author of the door to door information drive, delivered an inspirational speech and cited some biblical verses. In his speech, he quoted Philippians 2:13 which reads “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” where they patterned the door to door information drive.

The jail decongestion team also visited Quezon City Jail Male Dorm Warden, J/SUPT Emerlito C. Moral and Paralegal Section Chief Paralegal, J/INSP John Y. Achapero. They’ve also met with BJMP Paralegal Personnel namely: SJO3 Ellen L. Balan, JO2 Shirley S. Estrellas and JO1 Pablo A. Dalogdog.
