HLAF meets Junior Bedan Law Circle for a partnership meeting

“What can we do to help?” the first question dropped by Mr. Raphael Rayos, president of JBLC as the meeting started.

Last April 4, the Humanitarian and Legal Assistance Foundation (HLAF) and the Junior Bedan Law Circle (JBLC) had its first partnership meeting at the Department of Legal Management, San Beda University Manila.

Together with the Jail Decongestion Team of HLAF, Mr. Juanito S. Vinluan Jr., Social Worker / Paralegal Officer, introduced HLAF to Mr. Raphael Rayos from its history and how each programs were built. The brief explanation was mainly focused on JD for it is the main core of the partnership.

The first step for the partnership is to have MOA between both parties so as to formally build the relationship with HLAF and JBLC. It is also confirmed that the volunteers will be from the Legal Management students and their alumni who are present Lawyers. The volunteering will circle around jail visits and court follow ups.  The JBLC also offered financial assistance to HLAF. As for the formal orientation to the students, it is still not yet decided but surely will be within the month of April.

If the partnership will be successful, it will continue to the next batches JBLC, for the programs offered by HLAF will not only be beneficial to the people behind bars but, for some aspects, also for the people volunteering to assist them.
