Detainees of Mandaue City Jail recognizes Duty Bearers at Araw ng Pasasalamat

Cebu, Philippines- The Regional Trial Court Judge, Public Attorney’s Office Lawyers and Volunteer Law Students were honored in Mandaue City Jail Araw ng Pasasalamat and Graduation of Paralegal Aides last May 4, 2016.

During the graduation ceremony for Paralegal Aides and Araw ng Pasasalamat at the Mandaue City Jail, Hon. Ferdinand Rafanan, Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 55 Mandaue City, Attorneys Aldwin Flores and Gleenes Dave Rangga-Bantigue of the Mandaue City Public Attorney’s Office and the University of San Jose Recoletos School of Law Advocacy and Community Enrichment (USJR-SOLACE) student organization were the honorees chosen by the detainees of the Mandaue City Jail Male and Female Dormitories in recognition of their contributions to protect and promote the right of detainees to due process.

Recognizing the dire situation of the detainees due to the slow process in court, Hon. Judge Ferdinand Rafanan gave an emotional inspirational message which moved many of those present to tears.

The event was also graced by the Wardens of both the Male and Female Dormitories, J/CInsp. Gil Inopia, Jr. and J/SInsp. Jonabelle Roiles, respectively, who awarded Certificates of Appreciation to the honorees.

The paralegal aides of the female dormitory also had their graduation ceremony during the event. Twelve female detainees who went through a series of paralegal trainings were recognized as Paralegal Aides who will now help their fellow detainees in the follow up and documentation of their cases.
