284 BCPC members who are also community leaders, volunteers and advocates from different barangays in Tacloban, Benguet, NCR, Bulacan, La Union, Bicol and Davao gathered on this 2019 Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC) Congress last May 28 and 29 in Sta. Maria, Bulacan.
They have shown their hundred percent of support to BCPC and for the children to stand against the lowering the minimum age of criminal responsibility.
Participants came from different communities of Benguet, Tacloban, Davao, Bulacan and NCR who also testify that the lowering of MACR will harm the children.
They prove that there is no need to lower the MACR but rather implement the JJWA which is very effective as they testify that through proper implementation of the JJWA will decrease the rate of juvenile delinquency.
According to Victor Bernardo of Bgy. Culiat, Quezon City, “I will not stand here (in front of you) If I do not support BCPC 100 percent.”
Moreover, during the congress in line with their support to BCPC, selected barangay were able to share their practices in promoting and protecting the rights of children during the presentation of BCPC Tatak Barangay Contest.
